STARNET Services

The Mission of Illinois STARNET

Illinois STARNET provides a variety of opportunities for personal and professional growth for those who touch the lives of young children, ages birth through eight, with an emphasis on children with special needs. STARNET supports family-centered, researched and effective practices in early childhood education and care.

Support and Technical Assistance Regionally

Illinois STARNET is operated through a grant awarded by the Illinois State Board of Education; 100% of annual funding for the project is from federal sources. STARNET provides training, consultation, and resources to the early childhood community in Illinois. As a statewide system, STARNET assists the Illinois State Board of Education in meeting their local needs by providing services throughout Illinois. STARNET is committed to Helping Illinois' Young Children Reach For The Stars.​

Workshops and Webinars

Workshops and Webinars are available on a variety of current early childhood topics  providing  continuing education credit (CPDU, CDA, CE, Gateways to Opportunity).

Family Support

STARNET offers Family Fellowships, conferences, and training promoting family-centered perspectives. Family Resource Specialists, who are parents of children with special needs, are available to provide training, information, and support to families and providers. Starnet’s Annual Family Conference, which is normally held in March or April, is a popular source for family resources and inspiration. Click below to download Family Support Form

Funding Support

FAMILY STIPENDS/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT: STARNET

STARNET Region V offers limited support for professionals to attend professional development activities, including substitute teachers to Chicago Public School teachers attending STARNET workshops.

Technical Assistance

On-site technical assistance may be provided upon request subject to staff availability and funding.  Please complete the Technical Assistance Request Form.  All requests will be reviewed and requests accommodated depending upon staff availability and funding.
