This dynamic session is designed to empower educators by demystifying the complex world of a child's behavior and sensory needs. Using the Pyramid Model as our guiding framework, we will explore behavior as a form of communication, moving beyond surface-level reactions to understand the underlying drivers.
Participants will see how the Pyramid Model's tiers, ranging from nurturing relationships and supportive environments to targeted social-emotional interventions, directly intersect with a child's sensory systems. We will examine how touch, movement, and body awareness powerfully shape a child's ability to focus, regulate, and participate in a busy classroom.
Most importantly, participants will leave with a toolkit of proactive, evidence-based strategies aligned with the Pyramid Model to implement in the classroom. These practical modifications are specifically tailored to help children build better coping and regulation skills, directly leading to success at school, sustaining their placement in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), and preventing frustrating pull-outs or exclusion from their general education classroom.
