Families play an important role in helping schools create safe, supportive, and proactive learning environments for young children. The Center for Intensive Behavioral Supports (CIBS) will provide an overview of Illinois laws related to restraint, time-out, and isolated time-out (RTO) in schools.

Topics will include educator training requirements, preventative and de-escalation strategies schools should attempt prior to RTO, parent rights regarding RTO, and families' roles in the Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) process.

This training is specifically designed for families and caregivers of children in early childhood special education.
