We spend a lot of our lives asleep, or at least we are supposed to. So, why do we sleep? What happens in our brains when we are asleep? And what role does it play in our overall health and daily function? In this session we will examine the neuroscience of sleep and what happens to our brains when we are sleep deprived. We’ll enjoy some storytelling about our own sleep habits, patterns, and challenges. Participants will be encouraged to consider the amount of time their special education students sleep as well as the quality of their sleep. This session will conclude with some practical things we can do to promote getting a good night’s sleep.
